Whether you are into Heavy Metal or Country, a Latin Vibe or Classic Rock, there is one thing you cannot deny: music is a powerful form of personal expression that brings people together in a way that no other art form can.
The Veterans For Healing (VFH) Music Therapy Program focuses on the therapeutic aspect of music by inviting Veterans suffering from PTSD and other health conditions to attend a weekly 2-hour therapy session held near the Canadian Forces Base in Gagetown, NB where a large number of Canadian Veterans still reside.
From learning lyrics for the purpose of memory improvement for Veterans whose cognitive skills have been damaged in service, to improvised jam sessions that release a stream of consciousness, music therapy sessions utilize a variety of rhythms and musical styles. This therapy is designed to elicit a genuine emotional response from participants, many of whom cannot express their true feelings any other way.
Currently, VFH is raising money to expand this therapy to locations with large Veteran populations across Canada. In addition, we support the Guitars For Vets Program and are trying to raise money to buy each Veteran suffering from PTSD in Canada a guitar of their own.
