Veterans For Healing is proud to sponsor the Oromocto Ringette Association (ORA) . For anyone unfamiliar with Ringette, it is a game resembling ice hockey, played with a straight stick and a rubber ring, and in which no intentional body contact is allowed.
The ORA was formed to promote the growth of the sport once again. The association aims to develop skills and promote physical fitness among youth, encouraging interaction between players and fostering sportsmanship for girls playing on teams in the U10 and U12 divisions. Even more importantly, the ORA is having a positive impact on the lives of Oromocto youth, their families, and the community.
Due to its proximity to one of Canada’s largest military bases, Oromocto is home to a large number of Veterans, many of whom have seen active duty and struggle with PTSD and other issues as a result of their service. Children of Veterans often experience emotional turbulence as a result of a family member suffering from PTSD and other health conditions. Veterans For Healing recognizes that associations such as the ORA are invaluable for kids as they provide a safe outlet in which a sense of community and spirit of camaraderie are fostered.
